Welcome !

Join us now, for the 2009 Track Season!

Who are we?

The Kirkwood Kougars Track Club has programs for both track and field as well as cross country. Our club has been in existence for over 30 years. Our head coaches have been with Kirkwood Track Club for over 15 years, and each have coached multiple National Champions, with the support of our excellent assistant coaches.  Our athletes typically range in age from seven to eighteen and in ability from beginners to National Champions. We compete in both the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the USA Track & Field (USATF) leagues giving our athletes multiple options to compete regionally and nationally. KKTC relay team at Nationals

How do we do it?

The Kirkwood Track Club's mission statement is as follows:

The purpose of Kirkwood Track Club (KTC) is to provide organized training and teaching for competition in Track & Field, along with Cross Country. All athletes will be encouraged to grow mentally and physically, while being encouraged to do their best. Good sportsmanship will always be stressed. Respect for peers and coaches are considered paramount. In decisions of the club, the best interests of the athletes at large shall always come first.

To achieve these goals, we use the T.E.A.M. Together Policy as a roadmap. T.E.A.M. stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. It uses the following principles for a positive experience for athletes, parents and coaches alike:

  1. Athletes and Parents shall respect constituted authority. This requires conformity to coaching/board instruction, rules, AAU/USATF regulations and laws. Athletes are expected to be obedient and respectful with Coaches and Board Members at all times.
  2. Athletes and Parents shall conduct themselves in a manner which reflects concern for the rights and privileges of others and reflects favorably upon family, community and KKTC.
  3. Athletes and Parents are expected to demonstrate high personal standards of courtesy, decency, honesty and morality. Athletes and Parents shall refrain from the use of profane or improper language.
  4. Athletes and Parents are expected to demonstrate pride in every athlete’s achievements. This includes, but not limited to, cheering for fellow TEAM members during competition.
  5. Athletes are expected to perform at a level consistent with abilities through maximum daily effort.
  6. Athletes shall keep their hands, legs and feet to themselves at all times.
  7. Athletes shall leave all belongings of value at home, such as jewelry, radios, medals, etc., and are expected to respect other people’s property.
  8. Athletes shall set goals for themselves throughout the season, possess a positive attitude and have fun!!
